Any professional working with young people in Camden or Islington, including those working in youth provisions, education settings or clinical settings. Please note this training is not suitable for Foster Carers.
To give professionals that are working with young people the skills, confidence and knowledge to be able to discuss sexual health and wellbeing in an open, honest and appropriate way. The content of this course includes: • Current statistics relating to sexual health, teenage conception and STIs in the UK and in Camden and Islington; • The process of conception, the most common methods of contraception and the most common Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs); • Pregnancy options; • Sex and the law; • Safeguarding in relation to talking to young people about sexual health; • The opportunity to explore and clarify personal and professional values; • Signposting information – local services and organisations. • Engaging young people in discussions about sex and sexual health; • Increasing understanding and awareness of the barriers faced by young people when accessing sexual health services and information; and • Skill building: how to have conversations with young people about sex and sexual health.
